U.S. Marshal Badge
A U.S. Marshal is an officer of the United States Law Enforcement Agency within the Department of Justice. They are the highest-ranking law enforcement officers in the country, and belong to the oldest such agency in the country.
Marshals are responsible for protecting court officers, witnesses, and federal court buildings. They utilize Fugitive Task Forces comprised of Deputy Marshal's and local law enforcement to capture wanted fugitives.

Agent Sam Kassmeyer was given the task of protecting Haley Brooks and her and Hotch's son, Jack, from serial killer George Foyet, until his murder in "100". Federal Marshals have also appeared as supporting characters in other episodes, including "3rd Life", "The Silencer", "Green Light", and "Under the Skin".
