- The episode appears to be partly inspired by the novel and subsequent TV film adaptation Stranger with My Face. Both the episode and the novel share estranged twins, one given up for adoption before returning in their adulthoods with plots involving murder to target their families.
- Jeremy Cohenour, the actor who portrays the young Jesse Gentry, previously appeared on Criminal Minds, starring as Dwayne in the Season Three episode "Limelight" and as the young Wallace Hines in the previous episode.
