Season Three is the third season of Criminal Minds. It originally ran from September 26, 2007 through May 21, 2008. The DVD was released on September 16, 2008. The DVD features 20 episodes on 6 discs, with special features.


Season Three received 12.780 million viewers and a 4.5 score in the A18-49 demo on CBS. The season premiere drew 12.66 million U.S. views while the finale received 13.15 million U.S. views.

During Season Three, Gideon begins to doubt his abilities, sanity and ultimately leaves the BAU. David Rossi returns after ten years of retirement to fill in Gideon's vacant spot and gets extremely involved in a cold case that continues to haunt him. This season, the team is confronted with cases involving all manners of killers, including a cannibal. In a two-part episode, Garcia is shot by a serial killer. Hotch struggles to maintain his relationship with his family but ends up being divorced from Haley. The season ends in a cliffhanger after the BAU assists in the manhunt for what appears to be a group of serial killers.
