Newell Alexander is an American actor.

Biography[]

Alexander's acting career began with stage credits including the original productions of Cheatin, Daddy's Dyin' Who's Got the Will? (along with its film adaptation), Sordid Lives (along with its film adaptation), and Southern Baptist Sissies. His work on television included recurring roles on Big Love, Arrested Development, Alias, and Walker, Texas Ranger. Alexander is a principal member of the L.A. MadDogs, one of the industry's busiest voice-over groups, which worked on films such as Ray, Shark Tale, Shrek and its first sequel, Madagascar, Kill Bill: Vol. 1, and Kill Bill: Vol. 2, among others.

In addition to his stage and television acting credits, he has provided his voice for commercials for companies like Smith Barney, CVS Phamacy, Cool Whip, Aleve, Pfizer, Acura, Coca-Cola, Wells Fargo Bank, and Washington Apples. Alexander also used his voice for a George W. Bush sound-alike for MoveOn.org, and plays General Sam Houston as the host of the Texas History Museum's "Texas Hall of Heroes" at Austin. Alexander has produced and performed in 33 hour-long radio dramas for the Autry Museum of Western Heritage for PBS. He also performed for the opening act "Dan Clear" for 70 shows from 1983 to 1984. In his personal life, he and his wife Rosemary share five children and seven grandchildren.
