Mark Richard Hamill is an American actor, voice actor, producer, director, and writer best known for his roles as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise and the voice of the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series and its spin-offs, as well as the video game Batman: Arkham Asylum and its sequels Arkham City and Arkham Knight.


Hamill was born on September 25, 1951, in Oakland, California. He grew up in California, Virginia, New York, and Japan, since his father William was a captain in the U.S. Navy. He majored in drama at Los Angeles City College and made his acting debut on The Bill Cosby Show in 1970. He then played a recurring role in the soap-opera General Hospital and then costarred in the comedy series The Texas Wheelers. However, Hamill gained worldwide recognition and fame with his feature film debut with the lead role of Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise. He experienced a disfiguring car crash, but later recovered and appeared in Broadway, returning to the film industry in 1989. During the 1990s, he became best known for providing the voice of the Joker on Batman: The Animated Series and its spin-offs. Over his entire career, Hamill has acquired over 250 credits in film, television, and video games.

Hamill portrayed copycat serial killer John Curtis, a.k.a. The Replicator, in "Brothers Hotchner" (for which he wasn't credited for the role) and "The Replicator".
