Guest Cast[]

Referenced Criminals[]

Music[]

  • "Johanna" by Stephen Sondheim
  • "Left for Dead" by Citizen Cope

Bookend Quotes[]

  • Aaron Hotchner: "Of all the preposterous assumptions of humanity, nothing exceeds the criticisms made of the habits of the poor by the well-housed, well-warmed, and well-fed." – Herman Melville
  • Aaron Hotchner: "Nothing is permanent in this wicked world, not even our troubles." – Charles Chaplin

Notes[]

  • The episode appears to be partly inspired by the Canadian horror film Cube. In it, a group of strangers are all trapped inside a deadly cube-shaped maze they're all connected to. They're all supposed to escape, avoiding being murdered by various traps in the changing maze, without only one captive coming out escaping alive.
  • It's interesting to note that both Matthew Gray Gubler (who plays Reid) and the late Jack Donner (who plays a homeless man murdered in the episode) would later go on to star in the 2008 film How to be a Serial Killer (which appeared to have been a basis for another episode).
