Kenneth Alexander Mitchell was a Canadian actor.

Biography[]

Mitchell attended the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario, eventually graduating with top honors. There, he studied landscape architecture and also played for the school's soccer team as a striker. Additionally, Mitchell attended Kilcoo Camp in Minden, Ontario for four years, later working there as a counselor for eight years. He claims that at the camp, he discovered his love for acting and a passion for interpretive dancing. Mitchell later attended an acting class taught by writer, producer, and actor David Rothenberg. Also attending that class were future actors Scott Speedman, Rachel McAdams, and David Sutcliffe.

In his acting career, he is perhaps best known for appearing as Eric Green in the popular television drama series Jericho. He has also guest-starred in episodes of Flashpoint, CSI: Miami, Detroit 1-8-7, Grey's Anatomy, Ghost Whisperer, The Unit, and Law & Order: Los Angeles. On May 7, 2006, he married American actress Susan May Pratt and had a daughter named Lilah with her on the following year. He also has a brother named Sean, who works as a teacher and a part-time chef.

Mitchell was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, also known as "Lou Gehrig's disease") in August 2018, and has been using a wheelchair since October 2019. He publicly revealed the diagnosis in February 2020.

Mitchell passed away on February 24, 2024 at the age of 49.
