John MacDonald Badham is an American film and television director and producer.

Biography[]

Badham was born on August 25, 1939, in Luton, Bedfordshire, U.K. His mother was an actress, while his stepfather was a general for the U.S. Army. During the first years of his childhood, he lived in England, but during World War II, he and his family moved to the U.S. and he was raised in Alabama, where his biological father was native to. Graduating from Yale University, Badham started a career in the entertainment industry, first producing and directing for television before making his feature-film debut with The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars & Motor Kings, although his breakthrough credit was the box-office smash film Saturday Night Fever, which was made the following year. Other notable films he has directed include Blue Thunder, WarGames, and Short Circuit. More recently, he has directed episodes for Criminal Minds, The Shield, Blind Justice, Crossing Jordan, Heroes, Las Vegas, and Psych.

Badham has directed "The Performer", his only episode for Criminal Minds to date.
