  • Emily Prentiss: "We are each our own devil, and we make this world our hell." — Oscar Wilde
  • Aaron Hotchner: "All that we see or seem, is but a dream within a dream." — Edgar Allan Poe

Trivia[]

  • The episode appears to be partly inspired by Flowers in the Attic, a Gothic horror novel about a sister and two brothers locked in the attic while their mother and grandmother try to poison them for family inheritance. Specifically, the episode is similar in that the oldest brother and sister eventually become attracted to each other and have intercourse several times.
  • The uncredited David St. Pierre did stunt work for this episode, as well as the Season Four episode "Brothers in Arms" (and also played the episode's unsub), Season Seven episode "Epilogue", and the Season Nine episodes "In The Blood" and "Blood Relations".
