The AKS-47 is a Russian assault rifle.
History[]
The AKS-47 is one of many variants of the famous AK-47 rifle. It is essentially a standard AK-47 with a downward-folding metal stock for use in the restricted space in the BMP infantry combat vehicle, as well as by paratroops. It was adopted for Soviet use in 1950 before being replaced by more standard AKM and AKMS rifles in 1959.
